Positive audits for Beauregard, Vernon sheriff’s offices

Audit reports for both the Beauregard and Vernon sheriff’s offices were released published. Both offices were found to present their financial information fairly as of June 30, 2023.

The audit for BPSO was conducted by Windham and Reed, L.L.C in DeRidder, and VPSO was completed by David M. Hartt, CPA, in West Monroe.

BPSO ended the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year with a net position of $24,553,076, with $19.115,675 in total assets and $17,289,588 in total liabilities — accounts payable, payroll deductions payable, new other post-employment benefits liabilities, net pension liability. Their total assets and deferred outflows of resources was $24,553,076 and total liabilities and deferred inflows of resources as $17,793,153.

The BPSO audit also showed that 100 percent of the office’s public servants — 130 personnel — have completed their training requirements.

The net position of VPSO improved by $2,719,221 from negative $9,821,221 to negative $7,102,489 as of June 30, 2023, with $9,242,839 in total assets and $20,647,851 in total liabilities.

Both audits were conducted in accordance with the standards that are listed in “Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller General of Audit of the United States.
