SULPHUR — Ethan Frey worked five solid innings, while Jake Smith drove in a pair of runs as the Rosepine Eagles knocked off Class 5A Sulphur on Tuesday in non-district play, 5-2.

Originally scheduled to be played in Rosepine, the game was moved to McMurry Park in Sulphur due to field conditions at RHS. But it didn’t matter as Rosepine was resolute in grinding out a win.

Frey worked five strong innings, striking out eight players while giving up two runs on five hits. Casey Tilley worked the final two innings for the save, giving up two hits.

Frey had a pair of hits and drove in two runs, while Smith had two hits and two RBIs as well. Grant Ducote added a pair of hits in the win.
