Evans, Hicks, Hornbeck win easily; Lady Eagles fall to Kinder in district playoff

PLEASANT HILL — The Evans Lady Eagles jumped out to a big lead early on en route to an easy District 3-C win over the homestanding Pleasant Hill Eagles on Friday night, 65-39.

Riley Haus paced Evans with 15 points, while Jade Bonner came off the bench to score 12 points.

No player for Pleasant Hill reached double figures.

SIMPSON — The Hicks Lady Pirates closed out the District 3-C season with a perfect 10-0 record with a 64-26 victory over the Ebarb Lady Rebels on Friday.

Simpson (30-5) got a game-high 29 points from Lauren Quinn, while Reese Stephens added 15 points, all in the first half.

Camryn Cartinez had 11 points to lead Ebarb.

HORNBECK — Jayda James poured in a career-high 29 points to lead the Hornbeck Lady Hornets to a 74-28 win over the Simpson Lady Broncos on Friday in District 3-C play.

Hannah Mitchell and Hannah Dahlhoff were also in double figures for Hornbeck, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Kodi Miller led the Lady Broncos with nine points.

PITKIN — Four Pitkin players reached double figures as they won a District 5-B showdown on Friday against the Elizabeth Lady Bulldogs, 66-59.

Tucker Perkins led Pitkin with 17 points, while Heidi Nelson and Abby Robinson added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Charley Lentz chipped in with 11 points.

Emma Doucet finished with 21 points to lead Elizabeth.

DRY CREEK — The Rosepine Lady Eagles, coming off an easy win last Thursday over DeQuincy, didn’t find the same success in a District 5-2A playoff game against Kinder on Saturday at East Beauregard High School, falling by a score of 58-44 to the Lady Yellowjackets.

Kinder had four players score in double figures, led by 15 points from Janyiah Plumber with 15 points. Mackenzie Joseph added 14 points, while Aaliyah Tuhuhuah and Megan Fuselier finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Addison Fruge led all scorers with 21 points for the Lady Eagles.

In other news, the Leesville Lady Cats fell on the road to the DeRidder Lady Dragons, 72-47. Amaya Thomas led Leesville with 15 points, while Alexis Harris scored a career-high 40 points for DeRidder.

Additionally, the Pickering Lady Red Devils fell to the Oakdale Lady Warriors, 71-32, getting 14 points from Ariana Yates and 10 points from Alexus Hood.
