South Beauregard Cross Country Invitational.

RAGLEY – When the South Beauregard High School Cross Country Invitational was first contested, it was held at Longville Lake.

But in recent years, it was moved to the Ragley Recreational Complex, affectionately known as the "Parks at the Pass."

A total of 21 teams, including the hosting Golden Knights and Lady K's, will compete at Wednesday's meet, which begins with junior varsity action.

Along with South Beauregard, teams from Beauregard Parish include East Beauregard, DeRidder and Singer, while Rosepine, Evans, Hornbeck and Leesville will represent Vernon Parish.

Additionally, teams are expected from Barbe, DeQuincy, Elizabeth, Hackberry, Hathaway, Iowa, Johnson Bayou, Lacassine, Lake Charles College Prep, Negreet, Sam Houston, Sulphur, St. Louis and Westlake.

Both varsity races should be filled with exceptional runners who are expected to be contenders for the state meet, which is just a few weeks from now in Natchitoches at Northwestern State University.
