DRY CREEK – Kane Atkinson scored three touchdowns, while Caleb Johnson and Gage Hildreth combined on three more as the East Beauregard Trojans dismantled the Gueydan Bears on Friday, 42-16.

With the win, East Beauregard improved to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in district heading into a showdown on Thursday at home in a district game with Merryville.

Johnson scored the first two TDs of the game on a 26-yard run and a 76-yard pass before Atkinson scored on runs of 53, 34 and 9 yards.

Hildreth closed out the EBHS scoring with a 3-yard TD run.

The Trojans owned a 30-8 halftime lead, scoring four TDs and three 2-point conversions. EBHS has converted on 11 of its last 14 attempts for two.

MERRYVILLE – Though the conditions were a bit sloppy, the Merryville Panthers were not.

The Panthers celebrated their 2021 homecoming by winning its first game of the season, a 34-15 triumph over the Elton Indians in a district contest.

Merryville (1-4, 1-1) will take to the road on Thursday for a district matchup against rival East Beauregard.
