Rosepine junior Jake Smith (2) fires a pass downfield in the Eagles' loss to the Logansport Tigers on Friday. He threw for 157 yards in his first career start.

LOGANSPORT – It just wasn't Rosepine's night.

The Logansport Tigers raced out to a big halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 38-24 win over the Eagles in the final non-district game of the season.

With the loss, Rosepine dropped to 4-1 overall, heading into its district opener next Friday at Kinder.

The Tigers built a 22-0 halftime lead on the Eagles with their wide-open attack, often implementing a 5-receiver empty set to keep Rosepine off balance.

The lead grew to 30-0 early in the third quarter before the Eagles settled in offensively with Jake Smith starting at quarterback for the first time.

Grant Ducote got the Eagles on the board with a 61-yard TD run. He added TD runs of 13 and 8 in the fourth quarter, along with two 2-point conversions to make the score more respectable.

Smith completed 10-of-26 passes for 157 yards and two interceptions, while Ducote logged 21 carries for 196 yards.

Aiden Klein caught two passes for 86 yards for Rosepine, while Cole Donahue reeled in three receptions for 32 yards.
