Alexandria sweeps Wampus Cat Invitational; Leesville, Rosepine runners-up

Alexandria Senior High School swept the Wampus Cat Invitational.

FORT POLK – The Rosepine Lady Eagles and Leesville Wampus Cats had won their previous two meets easily.

On Wednesday, they ran into a little competition in the Trojans and Lady Trojans of Alexandria Senior High School.

ASH edged Rosepine by 10 points in the girls' division while running away from Leesville on the boys' side at the annual Wampus Cat Invitational at Warrior Hill Golf Course.

The Lady Trojans scored 85 points, placing one runner in the top 10 as Raegan Monroe finished fourth.

Rosepine registered 95 points with Sophia Jeffers grabbing the runner-up spot, with Lexa Thompson finishing sixth overall.

Avoyelles Charter was third with 118 points, also placing two runners in the top 10.

Individually, Lina Mills-Zacapa was first overall, followed by Jeffers and Hicks' standout Alyna Gilbert. Hornbeck's Kayleigh Park took ninth place.

The Converse duo of Lawson Rivers and Waylon Wright guided the Wildcats to third in the team standings with 135 points.

Rosepine's Sullivan Hanna and Simpson's Want Allain were third and sixth, respectively.

ASH, led by first-place individual finisher Matthew Crenshaw, scored 55 points as the Trojans had two other runners in the top 10.

Leesville scored 108 points for second place, sparked by finishes from Kyle Lynn and Marlon Trejo, who took second and fourth, respectively.
