LONGVILLE – The South Beauregard Golden Knight baseball team had another solid season in 2021.

Not only did they contend for a District 4-3A championship, which was won by St. Louis, the Golden Knights garnered the No. 2 seed in the Class 3A playoffs, where they fell in a best-of-3 quarterfinal series to Brusly, 2-1.

As a result, several members of the Golden Knight squad were named to the 4-3A all-district baseball squad, as chosen by the coaches in the league.

Three seniors – Britton Coleman, Rett Bowman and Charles Keith – earned first-team recognition, while three other Golden Knights – Carter Caraway, Austin Felice and Bryce Jensen – were second-team selections.

Coleman and Bowman were first-team picks at pitcher. Coleman went 4-1 in district play with a 0.91 ERA, striking out 33 batters in 20 innings of work, while Bowman was 2-1 with a 1.30 ERA, striking out 31 batters in 20.1 innings.

Keith, a catcher, batted .333 in district for the Golden Knights, while also driving in six RBIs with 10 runs scored.

Sophomore pitcher Carter Caraway was joined by third baseman Austin Felice and utility player Bryce Jensen on the second-team squad.

Caraway was 2-0 with 14 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched, while Felice and Jensen batted .291 and .282, respectively.

Two Golden Knights were honorable mention in 2021, that being Drake Evans and Alec McCain.

St. Louis shortstop Evan Joubert was the district's Most Valuable Player, while Matt Fontenot was named Coach of the Year.
