Spooner claims silver in javelin at state meet

BATON ROUGE – South Beauregard's Trinity Spooner showed up and showed out Friday at the Class 3A state track and field championships.

Spooner won a silver medal in the girls' javelin at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of Louisiana State University, the best individual performance for South Beauregard at the competition.

She hurled the javelin 135-6 to take second place overall, scoring eight of the Lady K's 10 points,which was 18th overall in the team standings.

The other two points for the Lady K's came from Kayleigh Hudler in the discus as she recorded a throw of 97-1 to place fifth.

The Golden Knights scored two points in the state meet, that coming from Seth Smith in the discus, where he finished fifth with a throw of 116-9.

St. Louis won the girls' team championship with 116 points, while Lake Charles Prep and Madison Prep tied for first in the boys' standings with 60 points each.
