Johnny Lindsey, seen here crossing the finishing line at the district meet, scored in both the 3200-meter relay and the 800-meter run for Rosepine at the Class 2A state meet last Friday.

BATON ROUGE – They may not have come home with a team championship or an event win, but the Rosepine Eagles and Lady Eagles had a solid showing Friday at the Class 2A state track and field championships.

The Eagle 3200-meter relay team finished second overall, while Amaya Shine won the bronze in the 100-meter dash at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of Louisiana State University.

The quartet of Nick Amer, Joseph Kennedy, Johnny Lindsey and Bailey Savoie recorded a time of 8:36.02 to come in second in the 2-mile relay, while Shine's mark of 12.65 seconds in the 100-meter dash was good enough for the bronze medal.

Lindsey also took sixth in the 800-meter run, while Shine joined forces with Alicia Kitchens, Allaina Johnson and Hayley Calcote to place sixth in the mile relay.

Kitchens was also part of the quartet which took fourth in the 3200-meter girls' relay. Taylor James, Sophia Jeffers and Lexa Thompson teamed with Kitchens for fourth in that event.

Jeffers added a sixth place in the 800-meter run, while Sullivan Hanna was sixth in the 1600 meters.

The Lady Eagles were 13th in the team standings with 12 points, while the Eagles were 17th with 10 points. Episcopal of Baton Rouge won both the boys' and girls' team championships.
