BATON ROUGE – Though they didn't come away with state championships, the track teams at both Anacoco and Pitkin have a lot to be proud of.

The Anacoco Indians and Lady Indians were 12th and 14th, respectively, while the Tigers were 20th and the Lady Tigers 21st at the Class B state track and field championships, held Thursday at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of Louisiana State University.

The Indians scored 16 points, well off the pace of champion J.S. Clark, which had 117 points. Pitkin scored 1 point.

On the girls' side, Anacoco scored 14 points, while Pitkin notched four points.

The Indians got a pair of third-place finishes from Brayden Blakeway in the high jump and Landen Wilder in the javelin. Kaleb Goodwin took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles, while Brayden Prichard was sixth in the 3200 meters.

Pitkin's Gage Thompson was sixth in the 200-meter dash.

The Lady Indians' best finish was in the 1600-meter relay, where the team of Bella Henry, Lydia Brown, Laykin Cole and Raylee Mitchell came in fourth. Individually, Mitchell was fifth in both the 400 and 800 meters, while Cole was sixth in the 400 meters. Henry added a fifth in the 300 hurdles.

Joanna Mawae was sixth overall in both the high jump and triple jump for Anacoco, while teammate Lauren Hunnicutt was sixth in the discus.

Abby Robinson was the only Pitkin athlete to score as she was fourth in the pole vault.
