Lady Indians, Pitkin win big; Pickering eliminated

Anacoco's Jaiden Craft had two RBIs in the Lady Indians' 18-0 first-round playoff win on Monday over Maurepas.

ANACOCO – The ninth-seeded Anacoco Lady Indians opened the Class B playoffs on Monday in fine fashion, demolishing No. 24 Maurepas, 18-0. 

With the victory, the Lady Indians advanced to the second round and a matchup on the road at 5 p.m. Wednesday against No. 8 Bell City. 

The Lady Indians scored eight times in the first inning and 10 more times in the second as they won the game in three innings due to the mercy rule. 

Bailey Davis earned the win in the circle as she gave up one hit and fanned five in two innings. 

Reagan Stanley had a pair of hits, two runs scored and three RBIs in the win for Anacoco, while Tylar Summitt has a hit, a run scored and three RBIs. 

Jaiden Craft added a hit, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Lady Indians.

Weston….1 

PITKIN – Tucker Perkins fired a two-hitter as she led the No. 13 Pitkin Lady Tigers to a 13-1 win over the 20th seeded Weston Wolves in the first round of the Class B playoffs on Monday. 

With the victory, the Lady Tigers advanced to a Tuesday contest against No. 4 Converse. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. 

The Lady Tigers wasted little time moving out to a huge lead, scoring five runs in the first, one in the second and three in the third, claiming a 9-0 advantage. 

Weston broke up the shutout in the fourth, but Pitkin scored four more runs in the bottom of the frame to account for the final margin of victory. 

Perkins struck out three in five innings of work, while also collecting a pair of hits and two RBIs. Autumn Kennedy had two hits and three RBIs, while Brianna Davis had two hits as well. 

Loreauville….8 

Pickering…2 

LOREAUVILLE – The 25th seeded Pickering Lady Red Devils drew first blood, but fell short of the eighth-ranked Loreauville Lady Tigers in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs, 8-2. 

ShaeLa Lawrence suffered the loss in the circle, but she did have two hits and an RBI in her final game as a Lady Red Devils. 

Gwen Sharbeno added a hit for Pickering in the loss.
