The Evans Lady Eagles captured a share of the District 3-C softball title Tuesday with a win over Hornbeck, 5-0.

EVANS – In order to clinch no worse than a share of a district title, the Evans Lady Eagles needed to do just one thing … win.

Mission accomplished.

Madi Gollihugh had three hits, while Sadie Jeane struck out 13 in the Lady Eagles' 5-0 victory Tuesday over the Hornbeck Lady Hornets.

The Lady Eagles (11-9, 9-1) had a chance to claim the outright league title, had Ebarb lost to Hicks. However, Ebarb edged the Lady Pirates, 3-2, to pick up a share of the crown as well.

Evans took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second and used a two-run fifth and a single run in the sixth to account for the margin of victory.

Jeane surrendered only three hits en route to fanning 13 Lady Hornets. She also contributed a hit and RBI in the win.

Gollihugh had a triple among her three hits and scored twice. Libby Craft added two hits and a run scored, while Chevy Beason tripled, drove in a run and scored once.

Abby Nicholas had one of the three hits for Hornbeck as she suffered the loss in the circle. Hannah Mitchell and Madison Behan recorded a triple and double, respectively, but did not score.
