Lady Indians rally for win over Pitkin

Anacoco lefty Brooklyn Bryant had an RBI in the Lady Indians' comeback win Thursday over Pitkin, 3-2

PITKIN – A week earlier, the Pitkin Lady Tigers were on the winning side of some late inning heroics.

This time, it was the Anacoco Lady Indians' turn.

Anacoco (15-14, 4-2) scored two times in the top of the seventh and held on for a 3-2 district victory over Pitkin (18-11, 5-2) on Thursday evening.

The game between the two Vernon Parish rivals was knotted at a 0-0 stalemate through three innings when the Lady Tigers drew first blood by scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth. Tucker Perkins had an RBI-single for Pitkin, while Autumn Kennedy scores a run in the frame.

Perkins held Anacoco scoreless until the top of the sixth when the Lady Indians pushed across a run to keep its hopes alive.

The Lady Indians managed to hold Pitkin scoreless in the sixth, while tacking on two runs in the top of the seventh as Anacoco took the lead.

Lady Indian pitcher Bailey Davis shut down Pitkin in the bottom of the frame to preserve the win. Davis gave up two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts, while also collecting a hit and an RBI in the win.

Perkins was solid in the circle as well, giving up three runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Tylar Summitt had a hit, run scored and an RBI for the Lady Indians, while Brooklyn Bryant drove in a run. Ava Davis added a hit and a run scored, while Emily Scott contributed a hit for Anacoco.

The Lady Tigers got a hit and an RBI from Perkins, while Abby Robinson and Lauryn Longino each had a hit. Shae Wetzel added a run scored in the loss.
