DeRIDDER – Mya Ware got to live out a dream on Thursday most players only wish could happen to them.

Ware cranked a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give the DeRidder Lady Dragons a 12-11 walk-off victory over district rival Leesville.

The hit was Ware's only one of the game and couldn't have come at a better time.

The Lady Dragons had built a 10-3 lead after five innings and seemed to be rolling to victory.

That is until the top of the sixth inning.

The Lady Cats erupted for eight runs in the frame and held DeRidder in check in the bottom of the inning to take an 11-10 lead into the seventh.

Leesville was unable to add any insurance runs to the total in the top half of the frame, setting the stage for Ware's dramatic game-winning homer.

Carmen Major opened the bottom of the seventh with a single and moved to second on the sacrifice, bring Ware to the plate. Instead of bunting Major to third, Ware blasted a home run over the wall to lift DeRidder to victory.

Emma Barbee went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Dragons with three RBIs, while Bjo Parson had two hits and two RBIs. Bri LeJune smacked a two-run homer as well for DeRidder.

Rylei Taylor and Madison Joiner each had two hits and an RBI, while Amaya Thomas had a hit and two RBIs. Kaylee Robinson added a double and RBI.
