Lady Indians, Indians perform well at Buckeye Panther Relays

DEVILLE – The Anacoco Lady Indians pit together a solid performance against much bigger schools on Thursday at the Buckeye Panther Relays.
The Lady Indians finished in second place with 72 points, trailing only meet host and champion Buckeye, which had 160 points.
The Indians earned a fifth-place showing on Thursday with a total of 43.33 points. Class 4A Tioga dominated the competition with 212.33 points, while Grant was second with 114 points. Marksville was third with 85.33 points, while Buckeye came in fourth with 47 points.
The Lady Indians managed only one first-place finish as Raylee Mitchell won top honors in the 800-meter run. She was also fifth in the 409-meter dash.
The Lady Indians were the runners-up in the mile relay and were third in the 800-meter relay.
Joanna Mawae tied for second in the high jump, while also taking fourth in the triple jump, where senior teammate Emily MacDonald was the runner-up.
Grace McCall and Bella Henry were third and fourth in the 300 hurdles, while Skye Buentello and Mallory Cooley were fourth in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, respectively.
Lauren Hunnicutt also finished fourth in both the shot put and discus, where teammate Skylar Ortego was fifth.
On the boys' side, Brayden Prichard won first place in the 3200-meter run, third in the 1600 and fourth in the 800, while teammate Landin Draughn was runner-up in the 3200 meters and fourth in the 1600.
Landen Wilder was fourth overall in the discus and sixth in the javelin, while Brayden Blakeway was tied for fourth in the high jump.
Caden Cooley rounded out the individual scoring with a fifth place in the 110-meter high hurdles.
