Norris chosen honorable mention all-state

Rosepine freshman Kelly Norris and Many senior Cadillac Rhone each made the LSWA Class 2A all-state basketball team.

ROSEPINE – One season after reaching the second round of the Class 2A playoffs, the Rosepine Lady Eagles took it a little further in 2021.

Rosepine reached the state quarterfinals, where the Lady Eagles fell to powerhouse Amite.

As a result, one Lady Eagle was honored by a panel of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association with all-state recognition.

Freshman Kelly Norris was named honorable mention all-stater after helping guide the Lady Eagles to the brink of the state semifinals.

Norris averaged almost 20 points per game en route to being named the Most Valuable Player in district play. She was also chosen first-team all-Vernon Parish by the staff of BWS Sports as she was among the cream of the crop in the area.

Also locally, Many senior three-sport athlete Cadillac Rhone earned second-team all-state recognition. He averaged close to 16.5 points per game this past season with the Tigers.

Dunham superstar Carlos Stewart and Lake Arthur's Deonna Brister were named as the Most Valuable Players for the LSWA, while Lake Arthur's head coach Vickie Sketoe and Dunham's Jonathan Pixley were named Coaches of the Year.

Stewart was joined on the boys' first team by Rayville's Kashie Matt, Franklin's Travis Zeno, Port Allen's Tawasky Johnson and Chris Lockett of Newman. Along with Brister, the girls' first-team features Rayville's Amari West, Lafayette Christian's Jada Richard, Jade Brumfield and Doyle senior Presleigh Scott.
