Anacoco tops Grant; Hicks, Rosepine roll to wins

Anacoco senior Zack Benevage struck out five batters in a complete-game victory over the Grant Cougars on Saturday, 10-6.

ANACOCO – Zack Benevage pitched a complete-game nine-hitter and connected on a solo home run as he helped guide the Anacoco Indians to a 10-6 victory on Saturday against the Grant Cougars.

Benevage gave up six runs on nine hits, including four solo homers. But he did strike out five Cougars In the win.

Landry Alligood had a pair of hits and three RBIs, while Noah Carroll, Gentry Bennett and Chase Taylor each had two hits and two runs scored.

UNION HILL – Four Hicks players homered in an easy 24-1 victory over the Plainview Hornets on Monday in non-district play.

Hicks (15-2) got home runs from Hunter Thacker, Zach Haymon, Brad Pelt and Aiden Coffman in the victory.

Thacker had two total hits and four RBIs, while Haymon had four hits and four RBIs. Pelt and Coffman added three RBIs each, while Dylan Williams had two hits and three runs scored.

Haymon worked one inning to earn the win on the mound.

ROSEPINE – Braden Nolen fired a complete game, while Cole Donahue had two hits and four RBIs in leading the Rosepine Eagles to a 17-3 win over the Hornbeck Hornets on Monday afternoon.

Trull gave up three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.

Grant Ducote had two hits, three runs scored and three RBIs, while Braden Trull had a pair of hits and three runs scored.

Michael Mason suffered the loss, giving up five runs on four hits with four strikeouts in three innings.

Cayden Fox drove in a pair of runs for Hornbeck, while Jaren Mitcham had two hits.

HICKS – Dalton Edwards picked up the win pitching, while Hunter Thacker added three hits and two RBIs as the Hicks Pirates plundered the LaGrange Gators on Saturday, 14-3.

Zach Haymon added two hits and two RBIs, while Brad Pelt finished with two hits and two runs scored.
