SBHS downs Merryville, Eagles keep rolling

LONGVILLE – The South Beauregard Golden Knights, after picking up a huge win over DeRidder on Thursday, knocked off the Merryville Panthers on Friday, 10-7.

Jace Duhon earned the win on the bump as he struck out three in a little over five innings of work, giving up two runs on eight hits.

Offensively, the Knights got two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs from Charles Keith, while Drake Evans had a hit and a pair of RBIs.

Cameron Davis suffered the loss for Merryville as he gave up seven runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

Causey Owen had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while Zach Cleveland, Blaise Duncan and Zach Babin each had two hits and an RBI in the loss for the Panthers.

LEESVILLE – Braden Nolen scattered five hits over six innings, while Ethan Frey blasted a two-run homer as the Rosepine Eagles trounced the Leesville Wampus Cats on Thursday, 12-1.

Nolen went the distance for the Wampus Cats, surrendering the only Leesville run of the game on an RBI-single by Nicholas Nash.

Frey finished with two hits and three RBIs, while Jake Smith collected two hits and an RBI with a run scored. Hunter Hines had a pair of hits, two runs scored and an RBI for the Eagles.

LEESVILLE – Casey Tilley fired a four-hitter, while Grant Ducote had a pair of extra-base hits in leading the Rosepine Eagles to a 4-1 victory Friday over the Pitkin Tigers in tournament play.

Tilley struck out two over seven innings, giving up one run on four hits. Ducote had a double and a triple with an RBI and a run scored.

Hunner Perkins had one hit for the Tigers offensively, while working five innings on the mound, giving up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
