PINEVILLE – Louisiana College junior Desiree Squires, who prepped at Rosepine, made her mark early this season.

After batting .500 with three doubles and six RBIs in a weekend sweep over Millsaps College, Squires was named the American Southwest Conference Eastern Division Hitter of the Week.

"This honor absolutely could not have ever happened without my teammates," said the Lady Wildcat first baseman. "RBIs don't happen without runners on base and my teammates did an excellent job putting themselves in scoring position."

Squires, a multiple-time all-district, all-Vernon and all-stater while at Rosepine, had an impressive slugging percentage of .875 as she collected a total of four hits in eight at-bats in LC's doubleheader sweep of Millsaps.
