Lady Pirates struggle in loss to Neville

Hicks senior Chloe Wilbanks (10) led the Lady Pirates with 13 points in a loss Friday to Neville, 35-31

ALEXANDRIA – The Hicks Lady Pirates had a difficult time finding their rhythm on offense on Friday against Neville. 

The result was a disappointing 35-31 loss to the Class 4A Lady Tigers for the Lady Pirates, the top-ranked team in Class C.   

Neville improved to 7-2 overall, while Hicks dropped to 13-5 on the season  

The Lady Pirates found themselves trailing by a point after the first eight minutes of action, 11-10, but managed to send the game into the break knotted at 17-17.  

Hicks managed to outscore Neville, 9-6, in the third quarter, moving out to a 26-23 lead heading into the fourth period. 

However, Hicks struggled to score over the final eight minutes as Neville rallied for the win. 

Chloe Wilbanks had 13 points to lead Hicks, while Avery Coffman and Lauren Quinn finished with 10 and eight points, respectively. 

D. Howard led Neville with 14 points, while J. Bergas added 10.
