ALEXANDRIA – The Anacoco Indians keep knocking off the big dogs.

The Iowa Yellowjackets, the top-ranked team in Class 3A, became the latest large school team to fall to the Class B Indians, as Anacoco picked up a 53-47 win on Friday at the Alexandria Senior High Holiday Tournament.

With the victory, Anacoco improved to 17-2 overall, while Iowa dropped to 6-1 on the season.

The Indians took a 13-8 lead at the end of the first period and used a 12-11 scoring edge in the second to take a 25-19 advantage into the halftime intermission.

Anacoco pushed its lead to 41-24 by the end of the third period, seemingly in control on the contest.

However, the Yellowjackets put together a huge fourth-quarter surge to get to within striking distance. But Iowa fell just short as Anacoco got the win.

Shaun Riley and Drew Tebbe each had 14 points in the win for the Indians, while Landry Alligood added 13 points.

Lawson Langley led Iowa with 15 points, while Curtis Deville finished the game with 12 points.
