Indians take care of Leesville on Monday night

LEESVILLE – For the second time in three days, the Anacoco Indians were victorious over the Leesville Wampus Cats.

Behind a combined 43 points from Shaun Riley and Brayden Blakeway, the Indians posted a 68-50 win over the Cats at Leesville High School.

Anacoco took advantage of solid play from Blakeway early on as he was dominant in the first half. He scored 15 of his 21 points in the opening 16 minutes as the Indians took a 37-20 lead into the intermission.

But it all began with the opening quarter, where Anacoco outscored Leesville, 21-5.

The Indians used a 19-13 scoring advantage in the third to open up a 56-33 cushion.

The lead ballooned to 25 points on a couple of different occasions in the fourth before a late Leesville run cut the final score to 68-50.

Riley finished with 22 points in the game, 14 of which were in the second half. Zack Benevage chipped in with eight points 

Leesville got 10 points each from Davean Scott and Keanu Pagan in the loss.

Anacoco will play Avoyelles on Saturday in the Menard Tournament, while Leesville will play three games this weekend at the Benoit Motors Christmas Classic in DeRidder, including a matchup at 8:30 p.m. Thursday against the rival Dragons.
