Anacoco downs Leesville, Lady Pirates topple Evans on Saturday

ANACOCO – In the final game of the Mickey Goins Memorial Tournament on Saturday, the hosting Anacoco Indians pulled away in the second half to beat the Leesville Wampus Cats, 85-59.

Anacoco only led by three points at the half, 35-32. However, the Indians outscored Leesville in the second half by 23 points, 50-27, to seal the deal.

Landry Alligood led Anacoco with 22 points, while Drew Tebbe finished with 17 points. Shaun Riley added 16 points and Brayden Blakeway contributed 12 points.

Davean Scott paced Leesville with 20 points, while Ju'lian Culbert and Keanu Pagan added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Hicks Lady Pirates…..55

Evans Lady Eagles…24

The Hicks Lady Pirates had no trouble with the Evans Lady Eagles on Saturday, 55-24.

Lauren Quinn had 15 points to pace Hicks, while Chloe Wilbanks and Avery Coffman added 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Chloe Benjamin had seven points to lead Evans.

Doyle Panthers…..50

Simpson Broncos…43

The Doyle Panthers held off a late run by the Simpson Broncos on Saturday to pick up a 50-43 victory in Anacoco.

Braden Keen led Doyle with 17 points, while Zach Vargas had 17 to pace Simpson.

Doyle Lady Panthers…57

Anacoco Lady Indians…51

Another standout effort from Presleigh Scott allowed the Doyle Lady Panthers to defeat the Anacoco Lady Indians on Saturday, 57-51.

Scott paced the Lady Panthers with 23 points, while Elise Jones notched 17 points in the win.

Paige Mayo led the Lady Indians with 14 points, while Bella Henry chipped in with 12 points.

Holden Rockets….59

Hicks Pirates…..31

The Hicks Pirates continued to struggle in its effort to find some offense, losing to the Holden Rockets on Saturday, 59-31.

Kase Busby had seven points to lead the Pirates.

Plainview Lady Hornets…67

Holden Lady Rockers…..56

In a matchup of dominant small-school girls' basketball, the Plainview Lady Hornets picked up a 67-56 win over the Holden Lady Rockets on Saturday at the Anacoco Tournament.

Abigail Pippen and Jordan Thompson led the Lady Hornets with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Mackenzie Willis added 10 points.

Brooke Foster had 10 points for Holden.

Red River Bulldogs…..64

Rosepine Eagles….41

LEESVILLE – The Rosepine Eagles had a tough time getting started offensively as they fell on Saturday in the Anacoco Tournament against the Res River Bulldogs at Leesville High School, 64-41.

Trey Smith led Red River with 18 points, while Antron Williams and D'Evan McDonald finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Braydon Williams finished with 13 points to lead the Eagles.

Stanley Lady Panthers….66

Simpson Lady Broncos…29

LEESVILLE – The Simpson Lady Broncos found getting out of the gates a little rough on Saturday afternoon in a loss to the Stanley Lady Panthers, 66-29.

McKayla Williams led Stanley with 25 points, while Maggie Walker and Kenzie Brouitte added 21 and 12 points, respectively.
