State Rep. Chuck Owen to host town halls in DeRidder, Leesville this week

State Representative Charles “Chuck” Owen will be hosting town hall events this week in DeRidder and Leesville to update citizens on upcoming legislative issues with local interests.

The first event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, in DeRidder at 4 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Church in DeRidder.
Leesville’s town hall will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
Owen said that he will be providing a legislative recap at each meeting, and then discussing some potential changes to Federal Title IX interpretation that he believes could pose a significant effect on local schools, including school lunch programs.
“The federal government is asking for the public to comment on these events and that’s the big purpose of these meetings; I want to relay to the citizens of Vernon and Beauregard what is happening and how they can speak up,” Owen stated.
Owen said the DeRidder meeting may also be attended by Gene Mills with the Louisiana Family Forum in Baton Rouge.
