Lady Cats close season with big win

By Daniel Green

LEESVILLE — Though the Leesville Lady Cats won’t qualify for the Division II playoffs, they did manage to close out the season with a bang.
On Senior Night, the Lady Cats rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pull out a 5-set victory over the Carencro Lady Bears, 26-28, 25-21, 20-25, 25-14, 15-7.
With the win, Leesville closed out the season with a mark of 6-14 overall, 2-6 in District 3-II. It was also a 5-win improvement over last year’s squad.
The Lady Cats and Lady Bears battled closely throughout the first set before Carencro took advantage late to take the first game. Leesville responded with a 4-point edge in the second set, only to watch Carencro use a 25-20 win in Game 3 to take control of the match.
However, Carencro seemed to run out of steam as the Lady Cats won 40 of the last 61 points of the match to earn the victory, sending the seniors home with a win.
