Local lifters qualify for state meet

TIOGA — A total of eight lifters from Rosepine have qualified for the LHSAA State Powerlifting Championships, which are scheduled for March 24-26 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on the campus of the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

The eight lifters from Rosepine managed to qualify for the state meet after their recent performances at the Central Regional at Tioga High School last weekend.

The top qualifier for the Eagles for the state meet was Tristen Nolen, who was second in the 148 class.

Super heavyweight Jesse Parker and Haydn Runge in the 242 class each qualified third, while Collin Gill was fourth in the 275 class.

Blaine Savoie was fifth in the 275 class, while Michael Fontenot and Logan Cheever were seventh in the 242 and 181 classes, respectively.

Rounding out the Rosepine qualifiers was Keyton Johnson, who was 10th in the 198 class.
