Graveside Service for Micheal Lynn Hyatt, 81, of Hornbeck, La., was held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Chance and Bro. Nick Hilton officiating.
Micheal Lynn Hyatt was born on Monday, Dec. 15, 1941 in Many, La. He passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his residence in Hornbeck, La. Micheal loved the Lord and lived his life so that others could see the faith he had in his daily walk. He was the one that any person in the community could come to for good, solid, sound, honest, Christian advice. He was ordained as a deacon in 1969. He taught Sunday School for many years at Prewitt’s Chapel Baptist Church. Micheal was an artist when working with wood and carpentry. He has built many homes throughout Vernon, Sabine, and Natchitoches parishes. He and his wife, Joy raised chickens on their broiler farm for over 33 years. While raising chickens he also worked for the Vernon Parish School Board for 27 years. He managed the processing plant at Hornbeck High School for many years before it closed. He then finished out his career with the Vernon Parish School Board as a bus driver for Hornbeck High School. He lived a life of service in many capacities. He was on the advisory committee for Valley Electric for 40 years; Vernon Parish Cattlemen’s Association; Member of the Hornbeck Masonic Lodge; Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery Association for over 40 years. Micheal enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and gardening. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Aletha (Coburn) Hyatt; son, Joseph Lynn Hyatt; and brother, Gerald Hyatt.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Dowden Hyatt of Hornbeck, La.; children, Belinda Hyatt Beverly and husband Kevin of Hornbeck, La., and Jonathan Hyatt and wife, Kristi of Hornbeck, La.; grandchildren, Corey Hyatt, Caitlin Beverly, and Maranda Gaddis; great-grandchildren, Kallie Hyatt, McKenzie Hyatt, and Gideon Hyatt; along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Kevin Beverly, Corey Hyatt, Mike Josie, Tony Coburn, Robert Hyatt, Jon Hyatt, and Gideon Hyatt.
Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Williams, Larry Averitt, Alan Brown, and Lynn Snell.
