OMC was recently awarded a grant to expand and increase COVID vaccinations in communities through outreach and case management. The overall purpose of the grant is to “increase access to, confidence in, and demand for COVID vaccines” in Natchitoches, Leesville and Tallulah.

The six-month grant brings resources to reach more people.

“We have been getting vaccinated for years to protect ourselves from small pox, polio, diphtheria, and other things but now people are afraid and rebellious,” John Winston, a member of the board of directors, said. “Take the vaccine or you may regret the consequences.”

The Expanding COVID-19 Vaccination grant award is about $83,000 and will fund a case manager and two outreach workers who will reach out to persons desiring vaccinations.

Funds will also be used to purchase vaccine supplies, personal protection equipment, marketing and promotional material, and incentives.
