A cold front making its way through southwest Texas and into Southwest Louisiana — with a line of showers and thunderstorms accompanying it — is expected to stall over the Gulf Coast for the rest of the week.

This will prompt some severe storms today and the possibility of flash flooding for the next several days, said the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.

Occasional bands of showers and storms with heavy rainfall is expected to continue through Friday. An average of 2 to 3 inches is expected in most of the area. Some locally higher amounts will be possible.

A flash flood watch is in place for Vernon and Beauregard parishes.
