Thomas Eugene Kilpatrick, 92, of Anacoco, La., passed from this life on Thursday, July 28, 2022.
Thomas was married for over 70 years to Wilma Gene Kilpatrick. He served his country as a Mechanic in the Army as well as in the Korean War. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he worked for Lockheed Martin and Brown & Root as a mechanic. He loved his family deeply and loved John Wayne almost as deeply. He was well known as being a “kidder” as much as he was for being stubborn. He grew up in an America where little boys had to be as tough as grown men. That didn’t keep him from being serious about the love he had toward his family. For that reason, he packed up his wife and all their belongings, left a life he loved, and moved across the country (Oklahoma to Louisiana) because his son needed him. That is the kind of man he was, tough but loyal to those he felt deserved it. He will be missed by all those who truly knew him and who are not likely to know many men like him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 71 years, Wilma Gene Kilpatrick; sons, Roy Kilpatrick (Marinel), Thomas Kilpatrick II; daughter-in-law, Marsha Kilpatrick; brother, Billy Kilpatrick (Donna); sister, Barbara Drywater; grandchildren, Naomi Kilpatrick (Phil Tolen), Crystal Kilpatrick (Harley Doyle), Michaela Davis (Aaron), Thomas Kilpatrick III, Jamie Kilpatrick, Kristen Kilpatrick, Orienda Kilpatrick, Myriah Kilpatrick, Joshua Kilpatrick, Ryan Kilpatrick, Kara Howard (Jason), Michael Kilpatrick, Matthew Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren, Xavier Michael Davis, Elijah Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Kilpatrick; grandson, Ryan; parents, Roy and Lorene Kilpatrick; daughter-in-law, Georgia Kilpatrick; five brothers; one sister.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Brother Steve Lora will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Charles Hewitt, Merle Sander, Justin Sander, Stephen Willis, Aaron Davis and Harley Doyle. Burial will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery in Anacoco, La.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Rosepine Retirement and Rehab, Brighton Bridge Hospice, Breanna West, NP, and Dr. Chris Granger for all of the loving care given to Thomas.
Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.
