ROSEPINE — The Rosepine Lady Eagles continue to soar.

Ashlyn Hall homered and Sienna Stinley fired a no-hitter as the fifth-seeded Lady Eagles ripped the No. 28 Mangham Lady Dragons in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs on Monday evening, 15-0.

“I thought we hit the ball well once we adjusted to the pitching. We don’t normally hit slow pitching very well,” Rosepine head coach Glenn Granger said.

Rosepine has now won 15 straight games entering the second round of the playoffs later this week.

And it didn’t take long on Monday to get things rolling.

Barbra Ann White opened the game with a double. As she headed toward third, the throw got away from the Mangham outfielder, allowing White to score for a 1-0 Rosepine advantage.

Aaliyah Marrero, Hall, Kelly Norris and Stinley each added RBI-singles in the frame as the Lady Eagles built a 7-0 lead going into the second inning.

Mangham got off to a nice start defensively in the bottom of the second, registering two quick outs. However, Marli Jones reached and Hall followed up with her second homer of the season for a 9-0 cushion.

“I just loved the reaction on Ashlyn’s face when she hit the homer,” Granger said.

White later drove in two more runs on a single in the second as Rosepine worked out to an 11-0 lead.

The third was more of the same as Stinley sat down the Mangham batters in the top of the frame and drove in the game-ending run with an RBI-single, scoring Hall from third.

“Sienna was awesome,” Granger said. “But I admit, I was a little disappointed on her missing out on a perfect game.”

Stinley struck out five and walked one batter in three innings of work, while also going 3-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate. Hall finished 2-for-2 with three runs scored, three RBIs and the home run.

White added two hits and two RBIs, while Jones drove in two runs with a hit.
