A 13 year-old Leesville teen reported missing last week was found deceased near his home on Wednesday, according to Leesville authorities.

Officials said James Foraker’s remains were found in a wooded area near his home Wednesday afternoon, two hours into a community-led search that included Leesville Police officers.

Foraker had been reported as a possible runaway on Feb. 18.

According to Leesville Police officials, officers received information on Wednesday that Foraker sometimes liked to spend time in the woods, which prompted the search of the area.

Officials said Foraker’s death is believed to be suicide, but that his death remains under investigation at this time.

Leesville Police Chief Beth Westlake asked Thursday that anyone who has information on Foraker’s whereabouts during the time he was reported missing or spoke with Foraker during that time, to contact Leesville Police at 337-238-0331.

“Along with all of the officers of the Leesville Police Department, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of James Foraker,” Westlake said.
