Anacoco sweeps J.S. Clark in opener

ANACOCO — Though both teams are much different from their meeting back in March at the state tournament, the outcome was still the same.
The Anacoco Indians had three players score in double figures as they dominated J.S. Clark on Monday night, 68-38.
Anacoco (1-0) had little trouble disposing of Clark (0-1), taking a 21-16 lead after one period in the books before putting together a 16-6 surge in the second to go into the halftime break with a 37-22 advantage.
The Indians completely owned the third quarter, scoring 23 of the 29 points in the frame, opening up a 60-28 cushion heading into the final eight minutes of regulation.
Anacoco rolled on to the victory, led by 23 points from Dustin Welch and 20 points from Emanuel Luzardo. Brayden Prichard added 17 points.
Channing Arvie led J.S. Clark with 13 points.

The Anacoco Lady Indians opened the 2021-22 season with a convincing 72-52 win over J.S. Clark on Monday evening.
Anacoco (1-0) wasted little time in showing which team was superior by using a 24-8 outburst to take a commanding lead after eight minutes. However, the Lady Bulldogs were able to cut into the Anacoco edge, trailing only 35-24 at the half.
The Lady Indians put things out of reach in the third with a 24-11 run, claiming a 59-35 cushion going into the final frame of play.
J.S. Clark made a small run to get back into it, but was unable to overcome the large deficit.
Abbie Dowden and Paige Mayo each had 15 points in the win, while Bailey Davis added 12 points for Anacoco.
E. Ned led three players in double figures for J.S. Clark with 20 points, while T. Albert and T. Burunda added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
