Vernon Parish Jamboree tips off Friday

SIMPSON — The final action of preseason basketball is upon us as the annual Vernon Parish Jamboree will take place Friday at Simpson High School.
Five of the six Class B and C schools in Vernon Parish will be in action at Simpson, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The only exception is Pitkin, who is in jamboree action at Plainview High School.
The Simpson Broncos and Lady Broncos will host teams from Anacoco, Evans, Hicks, Hornbeck and Glenmore with a $5 admission price per person.
Action gets underway at 3:30 p.m. as the Hornbeck Lady Hornets will face the Evans Lady Eagles, while the Eagles will take on the Glenmora Wildcats at 4:15 p.m.
Back-to-back girls’ games will follow at 5 and 5:45 p.m. as the Lady Broncos meet up with Glenmora, followed by the three-time defending state champion Hicks Lady Pirates taking on the Anacoco Lady Indians.
The end of the festivities will feature the Anacoco Indians versus the Hornbeck Hornets at 6:30 p.m., with a 7:15 p.m. matchup between the Broncos and Hicks Pirates to follow.
Each game will feature two 10-minute halves and each team will have three timeouts.
