Anacoco downs Negreet, Lady Indians fall

ANACOCO — Emmanuel Lozardo and Dustin Welch each recorded a double-double, leading the Anacoco Indians to a 53-43 win over the Negreet Indians on Saturday at the Anacoco Hall of Fame, which also serves as the school’s homecoming.
Anacoco, which will play Friday in the Vernon Parish Jamboree at Simpson, took a big lead in the first half, working out to a 31-10 advantage at the break.
Negreet battled back in the second half, but simply ran out of steam as Anacoco took the win
Lozardo scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, while Welch had 14 points, 10 boards, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots.
Bryson Smith led Negreet with 16 points, while Nolan Byles finished with 10.
Negreet rallied from a 5-point halftime deficit to knock off Anacoco on Saturday, 49-44.
Anacoco jumped out to a 12-8 lead after one quarter and took a 22-17 advantage into the locker room.
But by the end of the third, the game was tied and Negreet pulled away in the fourth to secure the win.
Kaiya Causey and Hannah Eidson we’re in double figures for Negreet with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Abbie Dowden paced Anacoco with 10 points.
In other Hall of Fame games, the Florien Blackcats got 32 points from Kaleb Carver in a 77-65 win over the Pleasant Hill Eagles, who got 36 points from Alex Calhoun and 18 points from C.J. Scott, while the Florien Lady Blackcats beat the Plainview Lady Hornets, 52-27, behind 12 points from Londyn Sparks and 11 from Marketing Sparks. Plainview got six points from Miley Thompson.
