Joseph “Joey” Kirkwood
Joseph “Joey” Kirkwood passed away on April 22, 2021 after a long and challenging struggle for life following a liver transplant at Ochsner Medical Center, Jefferson, Louisiana. His spirit
and humor was forever present as he braved the multitude of complications he confronted. Joey was 43 years of age at the time of his passing. He was born at Fort Ord California and was a 1996 graduate of Anacoco High School. Joey was employed as a
legal assistant for attorney Wayne Bush in Leesville.
Sadly he left us too soon but we will always treasure Joey’s intensity for life and his love of family and friends. From cute young boy to handsome man his charming smile, sharp wit,
and mischievous humor will be missed but never forgotten.
Joey is survived by his parents David and DiDi Kirkwood of Anacoco, Louisiana; his sister and brother-in-law Catherine and Eric Bull of Wicksburg, Alabama, his nieces Liberty and
Reagan, and nephew Justice; his paternal grandmother Virginia Suitter of Keizer, Oregon, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins from Hawaii to Pennsylvania. His two adorable Jack Russells will remain with Papa and Nana.
Joey had a keen
interest in botany and he had a green thumb. To honor his respect for the environment and love of plants we ask that you plant a tree, bush, or flower in his memory.
