The Rosepine Lady Eagles, with a win over DeQuincy on Monday, finished as the District 5-2A champions with a perfect 10-0 record.

ROSEPINE – Perfection.

The Rosepine Lady Eagles completed an undefeated run through District 5-2A play on Monday afternoon with a convincing 10-0 win over the DeQuincy Lady Tigers.

With the victory, the Lady Eagles improved to 25-3 overall, with a perfect 10-0 mark in league play.

The Lady Eagles should be among the top teams in the state in Class 2A when the playoff brackets are released Friday. They will likely be a top three team.

On Monday, they were every bit as dominating as they have been over the last few weeks, recording their sixth straight shutout as Chloe Bennett was once again almost untouchable in the circle.

In the five-inning contest, Bennett gave up only one hit with nine strikeouts as she neared the 300-strikeout plateau.

Additionally, Bennett was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and three runs scored to aid her own cause.

The Lady Eagles scored five times in the third inning to take the lead and added a run in the fourth. The game ended in the fifth when Rosepine scored four times.

Calyn Brister was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Rosepine, while Barbra Ann White had a trio of hits. Shelby Deason and Hallie Welch each finished with a hit and two runs scored.
