National Community Development Week is currently being celebrated in communities throughout the country and the City of Leesville joined them when Mayor Rick Allen proclaimed April 5-9, 2021 as Community Development Week in the City of Leesville.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program has operated since 1974. It provides annual grants to small cities which may be used to fund sewer, water and street improvement projects; economic development projects; and other public improvement projects. Each project must meet one of the following national objectives to qualify for the program: benefit low- and moderate-income persons; prevent or eliminate slums or blight; or address community development needs.

The CDBG is one of the few remaining federal programs available to address those specific needs. With his proclamation, Mayor Allen acknowledged the critical value of the Community Development Block Grant Program and the importance of the projects that rely on its funds for support.

From the City of Leesville, Louisiana, the best hometown in the world. Leesville strives to offer all the amenities of a larger city, but with a smile, handshake and strong sense of community.
