Simpson pulls away for win over Evans

EVANS – The Simpson Broncos and the Evans Eagles battled in a close ball game for three quarters.
But Simpson was just too much to handle in the fourth, using a 28-9 run to pick up a 77-54 victory over the Eagles in District 3-C play on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Simpson improved to 21-4 overall, 9-0 in league play, clinching the district title in the process.
The Broncos owned a 17-11 lead after one period of play and took a 36-28 cushion into the intermission.
However, Evans came out of the locker room on a mission and trimmed the gap to 49-45 at the end of the third quarter.
But it was all Simpson over the final eight minutes, scoring 28 of the 37 points netted between the teams in the fourth.
Tristin Williams and Preston Miller each had 14 points for Simpson, while Ethan Nash came in with 13 points. Rhett Petre and Zach Vargas also reached double figures for Simpson, each netting 10 points.
Wyatt Austin had 15 points for Evans, while Zane West chipped in with 14 points.
