The Vernon Parish Tourism Commission has provided an update on the status of Mayfest 2021. The Commission recently reached out to the Leesville Daily Leader and confirmed that Mayfest 2021 has been officially cancelled. The ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic was cited as the main reason for the cancellation.

The following statement is from the Vernon Parish Tourism Commission:

"Due to concerns about creating a 'super-spreader' event, endangering the health and well-being of the community and visitors, and out of an abundance of caution for Public Safety during the on-going COVID-19 Pandemic, MayFest 2021 has been canceled for this year."

Last year, Mayfest 2020 was also cancelled due to safety concern related to the global pandemic.
