Eagles sweep season series with Pickering

PICKERING – For the first time in a number of years, the Rosepine Eagles swept the Pickering Red Devils.
Rosepine had three players reach double figures on Friday night as it defeated the homesteading Red Devils in district play, 55-39.
The Eagles jumped out big early on, claiming a 16-2 lead after the first eight minutes of play. Pickering responded with an 11-7 run in the second, but still trailed at the break, 23-13.
Rosepine managed to push its lead to 11 points by the end of the third with a 15-14 scoring edge, going into the fourth period up, 38-27.
It was all Eagles from that point on as they cruised to the victory.
Braydon Williams led Rosepine with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Cole Donahue and Caleb Hites each added 10 points.
Kaleb O'Banion paced the Red Devils with 12 points, while Marlon Freeney came in with 10 points.

Singer Hornets…47
SINGER – The Pitkin Tigers overcame a slow start Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Singer Hornets, 56-47.
Singer held an 8-6 lead after one quarter on the court, but Pitkin rebounded with a 14-4 run in the second to claim a 20-12 advantage at the half.
The Tigers extended their lead to 35-23 entering the fourth quarter.
Both teams came to life over the final eight minutes of play, with Singer outscoring Pitkin, 24-21. But it wasn't enough as the Tigers got the victory.
Zeke Lentz led Pitkin and all scorers in the game with 23 points.
Tate Hess paced Singer with 13 points, while Jeremiah Belton finished with 10 points.
