Samuel David Brister

Samuel David Brister, age 77, of Columbus, GA,
passed away on Febraury 28, 2018. His funeral service were held Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. A graveside service is pending in Leesville, LA.

David was born on January 29, 1941, in Leesville,
LA; he is the son of Jesse Samuel Brister and Mildred Marie Peavy. David served in the U.S. Airforce. After his service David graduated from LSU with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. He worked as a CPA in Texas, as an auditor for the Defense
Department in Washington, D.C., and then as a real estate appraiser in Columbus, GA. Throughout his life David was a member of various churches where he lived, including Leesville Baptist Church, Unity Church of Dallas and here in Columbus, he was a
member of St Mark’s UMC. He was also a member of N.H. Bray Masonic Lodge in Slagle, LA, serving as a faithful member for 50 years.

David is preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Ethan Andrew Brister. Survivors
include; his daughters Candace Kelli Brister (Alvin) Oliver, Amber Rene’ Brister (James Simons); a grandson Alexander William Oliver; one brother Howard Louis (Martha Jo) Brister; two nieces,Dannelle Marie Brister Ranger and Lynnette Alice Brister
Offutt; and one nephew, Shane Nathaniel Brister.
