A gathering to celebrate the life of Charles L.
“Buddy” Blackman will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, LA.

Buddy, the son of Benjamin and Clare Kaston Blackman was born July 27, 1933 in
Philadelphia, PA. and passed away February 11, 2018 in Leesville, LA.

Buddy discovered a lifelong passion for thoroughbred horses as a small boy growing up in Philadelphia. He began his days riding with the milkman so that he
could be near and help care for the horse pulling the milk cart, then moving on to the various parks surrounding his home as a stable boy.

Buddy’s dream was to become a jockey and with his mom’s help, at the age of 13 he left
home and joined Brookmeade Stable in Upperville, Virginia, where he was able to visit and work at some of the countries’ most popular race tracks, working himself up from exercise boy to apprentice jockey. Buddy’s dream was not to be realized, as he
was drafted at 19 and instead chose to join the Air Force, where he spent the next 22 years serving his country honorably.

In 1981, Buddy met the love of his life, “His Doll”, Debbie, they married in 1982 and spent the next 36
years sharing their lives together along with their many fur babies.

Buddy touched many lives with his beautiful smile and sweet gentle nature. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed so very much.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, sister; Beverly, daughter; Donna, son; Scotty, grandson; Dirk and his precious fur babies Spots and Gus.

Buddy leaves to cherish his memories his wife Debbie of Leesville, LA.,
