Funeral services for Frances Jerene Guthrie
Castaneda, 71, of New Llano, LA. will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 10 A.M. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral
Home of Leesville.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Frances, the daughter of James Zeb and Mary Frances Johnson
Guthrie, was born on January 5, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas. She passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, in Alexandria, Louisiana.

A career military wife, Jerene supported her husband as he served in the United
States Army. She was the rock for her husband as he served three tours in Vietnam and as they raised four children in various duty stations around the world ranging from Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, Europe and finally Louisiana, where they finally settled
in for retirement. After her husband’s retirement, she intermittently worked outside out the home for Holiday Inn Hotels, but her primary focus was always taking care of her husband and raising her four boys. She loved to travel and was a loving
wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Alejandro Castaneda Sr.

She is survived by her sons; Alex Castaneda Jr. (Stacy) of Alexandria,
LA., Chris Castaneda (Sarah) of Lafayette, LA., Simon Castaneda and Haden Castaneda both of New Llano, LA., sister; Renee Judd of Fairfield, TX., grandchildren; Cheyenne Castaneda, Ethan Castaneda Kali Castaneda, Dylan Castaneda, Maya Castaneda,
Shelby Castaneda, Noah Castaneda, Nathaniel Castaneda, Jaden Castaneda, 3 step grand-children; Foster Gunter, Clark Gunter, Hardy Gunter, 3 great-grandchildren; Emory, Adeline, Wyatt and a host of nieces and nephews.
