William Robert Bradford

Funeral services for William Robert Bradford, Sr.
will be on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Flactor Baptist Church in Hicks, with Reverend Huey Haymon officiating. Burial will follow in the Flactor Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service of Leesville.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 27th beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Flactor Church.

William Robert Bradford, Sr., 93, of Anacoco, LA, died Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was born in Rison, AR on August
17, 1924 to Alva Curtis Bradford and Mary Virginia Woolley Bradford.

William was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, enlisting in the Navy on his 18th birthday during World War II. He also served in the Korean
Conflict. The Navy became his first career. He attained the rate of Gunners Mate Chief Technician. Upon naval retirement he became a foreman in a Nuclear Weapons Plant at Yorktown, VA. William was a lifetime member of the Fleet Reserve Association, a
Freemason, and a Shriner. In retirement he was passionate about hunting, fishing, and gardening. He moved to the Hicks Community in 1979 and was a member of Flactor Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his mother,
father, sisters: Dorothy Mae Bradford, Kathleen Pledger, Annetta Sheeley; and brothers: James L. Phelps, A.C. Bradford, Jr., and Russell F. Bradford. Survivors are his wife, Bessie Waschalk Bradford, sons: William R. Bradford, Jr., of Orlando, FL,
and John M. Bradford, wife Melanie, of Leesville; daughters: Sharon Bradford Moore, husband Donald, of Anacoco, and Angela Bradford Elkowitz, husband Robert, of Savannah, GA; and sister Della Verne Threlkeld, husband William, of Texas. Several nieces
and nephews.

William lived by the principle of kindness to another’s troubles and courage to his own. The family would like to thank Woodlands Health Care Center for their kindness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to Gideons International or the Alzheimer’s Association.
