Michael Handorf

A funeral service for Michael David Handorf will
be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Old Anacoco Baptist Church, 2386 E. Hawthorne Road Leesville, Louisiana, with Brother Wayne Chance officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Herrington’s Land of Memory Cemetery, US 287 N Palestine, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Old Anacoco Baptist Church and again after the funeral service
until 8:00 p.m.
Mike was born in Palestine, TX, on June 28, 1967, and passed away on April 1, 2017, at the age of 49. In 1985, he graduated from Anacoco High School and then went on to earn degrees in both kinesiology and history at
Stephen F. Austin University. Mike was a former car dealership owner and salesman. He worked as a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Corrections until his disability in 2013. Mike moved back to Leesville and became a member of Old
Anacoco Baptist Church. Mike will be remembered for many things such as his love of sports – especially men’s softball, working out, and fishing. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, and friend.
Mike was
preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Lambert and brother-in-law Timothy Lane Mitchell.
Left to cherish his memory are his son: Austin Handorf and wife Sarah of Pineville, LA
Daughter: Hali Hope Handorf of Palestine, TX
Father and stepmother: Lloyd and Sippy Handorf of Leesville, LA
Brothers: Mark Handorf of Neches, TX and Joshua Handorf and wife Shauna of Fort Benning, Georgia
Sisters: Melinda Mitchell-Newman and husband Ellis of
Natchitoches, LA and Donna Eaves of Flower Mound, TX
Pallbearers will be Joshua Handorf, Mark Handorf, Tyler Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Scott Handorf, James Wilson, Phillip Neal, and Mikey Howell.
