William J. Beavers was born Feb. 12, 1931, in
Leesville. He passed away at his residence on Billy Goat Hill on Feb. 8, 2017. Mr. Beavers is preceded in death by his parents Mabel Synoground Beavers and William Jennings Beavers Sr. and sister Billy Lou Beavers.
Mr. Beavers was retired
from a successful local business for over 40 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeannine Jones Beavers; four children, Jim Beavers, Randy Beavers, Kim Beavers and Rhonda Thompson and husband, Gilbert, all of Leesville;
six grandchildren, Morgan Beavers of San Diego, Mollie Wisner and husband, Shane, of Baton Rouge, Katie Vanicor and husband, Ryan, of Welsh, Kyle Wesley Coffman of Leesville, Leslie Coffman of Houston, and Caleb Fletcher and wife, Mickinzi, of Saint
Mary’s, Georgia; and six great grandchildren, Collin, Ramsey and Ivy Jeane Vanicor, Evan Beavers, Kynli Coffman and Trevor Fletcher.
Mr. Beavers “Bill” was a member of East Leesville Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran. He was an avid
sportsman and played two years of college football at USL as well as being an undefeated Golden Gloves boxer. Bill coached the Blue Birds and enjoyed slowpitch softball, dove hunting, golf and any other type of competitive wagering. He was a lifetime
member of the Louisiana Lions Club and a dedicated fan/alumni of the Leesville Wampus Cats. Bill loved his family and his little dogs – Bubba and Minnie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at East
Leesville Baptist Church, located at 266 Alexandria Hwy. in Leesville, with the Rev. Jeff Smart officiating under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.
until time of the service on Feb. 11, 2017.
