Jeffery Ray Payton

Jeffery Ray Payton was born on Oct. 17, 1956, to
the late Carl E. Payton, Sr. and Mildred L. Payton in
Munich, Germany.
He was member of the New Willow Baptist Church in Leesville until he met and married his wife, Barbara Lynn Berard Payton, in 2002. In this union, there
were four step-children. After his union with Barbara Lynn Berard Payton, he relocated to Lafayette.
Jeffery was affectionately known as Barry White. He loved cooking, fishing and helping others with a
kind, unselfish and
generous heart. Jeffery was an extraordinary man with a unique soul that loved hard and unconditionally. He spent many years spreading his love for cooking while working as a head chef for Hercules Offshore, Inc.
Jeffery was always a
brother to a brother, a loving husband, a dedicated step-father, a doting grandfather, a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and a caring friend. A day never went by without him reaching out to his family and friends. His willingness to give as
well as to receive granted him much respect. He will always be cherished in our memories.
Jeffery Payton departed this life on Nov. 12, 2016. He leaves behind many loved ones to cherish his
memory, including his wife Barbara
Lynn Berard Payton of Carencro; step-daughters, Richonda Noble
(Joseph Carrier) of DeQuincy and Monique Alfonso (Edward) of Houma; his step-sons, Jeremie Francis (Tina) of Broussard, Shedrick Berard (Precious) of Harker Heights, Texas and
Nicholas Berard of Carencro.
He is also survived by his 10 siblings; Carl Payton, Jr. (Sandra), Jacquelyn Payton Fisher, Carl
Payton, III, Charline Payton Rhodes (Leonard), Bruce Payton, all of Leesville, Stanley Payton of
Florida, Paul Payton of Baton Rouge, Paula Payton Wilson (Larry) of Mississippi and Jason Payton (April) of Georgia. Jeffery is also survived by his uncle Joel Payton of Leesville and his Aunt Naomi Payton Brown of DeRidder. He leaves behind nine
grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his father, Carl E. Payton, Sr. and his mother, Mildred L. Payton; his two brothers, Rhodes Payton and Claude (Lionel)
Payton; his first wife Rosetta Payton; and his step-son, Aubrey Brandon.
