Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 16, from 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.?Mikey, the son of Benjamin and Marianna Espinoza Medina, was
born on October 28, 1930 in Irving, Texas. He passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, in Leesville.?Mike “Mikey” Medina was a loving husband, an amazing dad, a devoted grandpa, and a true American patriot. He gave 30 years of his life to the
United States Army, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and ultimately retired at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
After retiring from the Army, he worked another 10 years offshore with Diamond M Drilling. He had a deep
commitment to his wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as countless friends both near and far. He spent the last 20+ years of his retirement working outside trying to help anyone he thought needed help.
If he wasn’t mowing a yard,
running a weed-eater, or pushing a wheelbarrow, you could bet you’d find him spending time with friends over a cup of coffee. He was loved beyond words by countless friends and family members, and will be missed beyond words as well.?He is survived
by his wife of 36 years, Ulla Medina of Leesville; sons, Oliver (wife, Amy) Medina of Anacoco and Benjamin (wife Christina) Medina of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Nicole Harris (fiancé Buggsy Vinson) of New Llano and Anita (husband Don) Gillespie
of Hope Mills, N.C.; sisters, Maryann Medina of Duncanville, Texas, Lupe Medina of Duncanville and Dominga Sanford of Petal, Miss; eight grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.
